Hands down, the fullest realization of The Bismarck's mission statement, and simply put, their best record.
Brutal and punishing, but not without lyrical barbs that resonate with anyone from North Dakota, the Pacific Northwest, or are losing both hair and hearing as the 30's turn into the 40's. The lead-off, repetitive mantra to Washington state's blood-alcohol limit ("0.079") segues into their continued pre-occupation with the sweet science, and maybe their greatest song, "Max Baer."
A nod to elder statesmen Dead Moon places the Bismarck in the proper context, finally: ROAD DOGS, HEAD LEVELERS, AND NOT WILLING TO TURN DOWN. Famously called Crazy Horse without Neil Young, this album fulfills that promise.
